AB  - To diagnose prostatitis correctly and select appropriate therapy, one should use the Meares-Stamey technique for culturing urine and prostatic secretions and apply the classification system for prostatitis devised by the National Institutes of Health. The continuing search for an effective therapy for the most common type, chronic abacterial prostatitis, has led to adoption of treatments from other specialties and reevaluation of standard treatments.
